Taking Trees Down
Have you ever wondered what the process actually entails when a tree service takes a tree down? What kind of equipment is used? How do they get around the power lines? Won’t it all make a mess of my yard? Well here’s the story…. Both in photos and explanations of how it’s done.
Since most of us live in residential neighborhoods, we might wonder where the equipment is going to go. As you can see, a 75 Ton crane fits nicely in the driveway!
“But wait” you say…. “What about the service lines?” No problem, PSNH drops them for us and puts them back up as soon as the job is done.
A lot of yards aren’t flat…. Some have extensive landscaping; or small rises; or limited access. Not a problem. That’s where the NiftyLift does the job much better than a bucket truck. It has floatation tires and can access many difficult areas. And with a 70 ft. reach, it’s just the piece of equipment to start the job.
Once the top of the tree is cut, the Crane carries it over to the Chipper, with just a little guidance from the groundman.
Tree limbs and tops used to be dropped on the lawn area (which caused lawn damage) and then the groundman had to haul it over to the chipper. Now, the Crane sets it right in front of the chipper! Which makes the groundman much happier.
The Log truck and Grapple are used to remove the trunk sections of the tree after the Crane has deposited them for pickup. (these logs are not from this tree job.)
Once the tree is removed the homeowner has the option of having the stump ground out. This homeowner had the stump ground out and the chips removed. (Stump grinding is a separate option, but if you’re replanting or putting in more lawn than it’s best to do it.)
Work done like this will have you wondering if there was ever a tree there in the first place!
So there you have it….. a job well done by…
